Your note
Porec is a croatian costal town found on the Istria Peninsula, with almost 17,000 inhabitants. Located right on the Adriatic Sea, this impressive tourist resort offers spectacular beaches and a fantastic mediterranean climate, with the typical stifling heat cooled by the sea breezes and more than 2,400 hours of sun a year.
The Euphrasian Basilica, rebuilt in the 6th century under the Byzantine Empire is the most important historical site in Porec. It is a protected World Heritage Site, given this status by UNESCO in 1997.
Tourism is the towns main source of income, with the beaches, climate and historic centre being the main pulls for tourists.
Porec is a tourist town which has seen a rise in the number of hotels and holiday accommodations in recent years. Thanks to the nearby Pula and Rijeka Airports, it is not difficult to reach this resort on the Istria Peninsula. The town has also recently experienced a rise in the numbers of foreigners making it their new home, with large numbers of Germans deciding to make the move to this idyllic, Croat seaside town.
